Mom's Quilt-
We've been spending the weekend at home, due to the threat of a major Ice storm. Most all the extra activities were cancelled so that left me large stretches of time to work on this quilt top for my Mother-in- law's Birthday. So, here it is, the top finished, and ready to take to the local quilter tomorrow.
I'm not much for traditional quilting. I probably should have worked a bit harder for the perfect points and it would have turned out better. I did enjoy coming up with the design.
My Mother-in-law is turning 80 and I see her as the sun shining on all of us. She had 4 children, so they are the four large stars and then there are 10 smaller stars for her daughters-in- law and her grandkids. I added all the houses for friends. I found a great quote to express my feelings about her:
"The sun does not shine for a few trees and flowers, but for the wide world's joy. "
This is printed on the red inside border. I added the trees in the corners and the two moons to round out the design. I wanted the night and day feeling to the quilt, dark and light blues as backgrounds.
Hopefully, I'll get the quilt done quickly and back to finish it before the deadline!
