a Pause for station Identification-

Well, it is officially summer around my house. My DD#2 discovered a baby turtle on her scooter ride down the street. I'm hoping to have this guy identified so we know what to do with him.
If you have any ideas, let me know.

Wow! We've just acquired one from our neck of the woods also. I was trying to new pix of him to post because the ones I have - you can't really tell that he's the size of a half-dollar! He looks regular size. My kids have actually been doing a pretty good job taking care of him (2 weeks) - we'll see.

It is a snapper. I agree with to dye for's response. He'll do fine on his own and it won't be long before he trys your fingers for a snack.

Yep...it's an alligator snapper. Dump him in the closest pond. They also carry salmonella.....

Oh my!!! It's long since you posted this but I hope you listened to gilli.
It is indeed a snapping turtle. I still have a half moon scar on my little finger where a newly hatched turtle latched on to my finger and bit down to the bone. I was about seven. It was awful but the only way we could get him off me was when my dad cut it's head off with kitchen shears...
