Happy Birthday!
It's Delaney's 12th Birthday and she celebrated with a giant cookie instead of cake. She decided not to ask for a party this year because there were several already planned that she was invited to. So, we had a quiet family celebration. I took balloons to her school at lunch and took cupcakes in for her class. She told us that durring lunch, two boys got up and walked over to sing Happy Birthday to her.. and the whole 6th grade joined in. She was embarrassed, but secretly pleased.
Her teachers teach a split 5/6 grade and they have started a email system so they can communicate with each other and their teachers. I guess their teachers can log on to see the messages too. It wasn't a big deal to most of the girls, since they've been doing email and instant messenging for a couple years now, but I guess it's new to some of the boys. her teacher asked what was going on between her and a 5th grade boy. She didn't know what her teacher was talking about. Apparently, according to the boy's mom, he rushes home each day and gets on the computer to send Delaney a message and read hers. The teacher looked and saw most of his messages were to Delaney. Delaney thought he was just talkative. She had no idea he was just sending messages to her. She's a popular kid.
