Prom dress pt 2- So, here's our version of the dress. The netting isn't starched yet, so it will stand out a bit more. But I think, in 1 1/2 days, we did a fine job of it. It is made from Red Taffeta and Black silk.
It is a very lovely dress....and your dd looks gorgeous in it.
Does your dd realize how lucky she is to have a mom and aunt(s) who are willing to go to such lengths to get her prom dress made. LUCKY LUCKY girl!!!
I told my dd I would make her WHATEVER she wanted for her Gr12 prom. Even bought the Singer Sewing for special occasions book to help me through it..... after years of asking for prom dresses during jr and sr high school (for other ppls proms) she decided in GR 12 to go very simple and budget minded and borrowed a dress from a friend...... so no making a dress for her. Ironic, isn't it.
On the other hand, a friend's dd had me make 2 prom dresses for her (one was her bf's gr 12 prom) and since I made it for one dd, the second dd decided I needed to make one for her when it was her time for a prom dress. So the Singer book came in handy after all. And for the 2 wedding outfits I made for 2 other friends at other times.
Thanks everyone, I remembered my sister making MY prom dress- specifically one that had 4 rows of lace on the sleeves that we were sewing on by hand the night before Prom. LOL!

It's a beautiful dress (and a beauty wearing it). It sounds like you had a great time making that dress and I'm sure she'll have a grand time.

It turned out beautiful, even better than the original. And your daughter looks like a model in it. Just lovely!
